TreadPaw Terms of Use

Last updated: October 18, 2026

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Xuzhou Haijiyun International Trade Co., Ltd, Shop 1-004, Xilizhuang Village, Liuji Town, Tongshan District, Xuzhou, Jiangsu 221000, China ("we," "us" or "our"). They cover the TreadPaw app, the TreadPaw console (called the "treadmill computer" in the app) and its firmware, and our online services (together, the "Service").

By installing or using the Service, or by continuing past the app's welcome screen, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

TreadPaw is offered only in the United States. Please read section 2 (Safety) and sections 12 to 15 (disclaimers, limits on our liability, indemnity and governing law) carefully.

1. What TreadPaw is

The TreadPaw app and console record your dog's treadmill activity and give general guidance on training load, rest and heat. TreadPaw is not a veterinary product. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and it does not replace your veterinarian. When the app points out that something has changed, it is a prompt to consider asking your vet, not a diagnosis.

2. Safety (please read)

When you use the Service with a treadmill, you agree that:

  1. You supervise your dog the whole time. Never leave a dog alone on a treadmill, even for a moment.
  2. Safety chain. If your treadmill has a safety chain, clip it only to a well-fitting harness, never to a collar, and stay beside your dog. Never leave your dog clipped in alone. If your dog panics or wants off, unclip it right away. If your treadmill has no safety chain, never tie your dog to the treadmill. The app shows the safety notes for your treadmill; read and confirm them before the first session.
  3. Stop at the first sign of trouble, such as heavy or unusual panting, limping, stumbling, a lot of drooling, vomiting, unwillingness to continue, collapse or anything else that worries you. Stop the session at once and contact a veterinarian.
  4. Ask your vet first if your dog is a puppy, a senior, overweight, a short-nosed breed, or has any health problem.
  5. The training plan, rest reminders, weekly limits and heat levels are cautious general guidance based on public veterinary and kennel club sources listed in the app (Profile, then Sources for training tips). They are not veterinary advice for your dog and may not be right for your dog. You are responsible for decisions about your dog.
  6. A treadmill is an addition to daily walks, not a replacement for them.
  7. Do not use the Service to hurt, frighten or force an animal, or for dog fighting, baiting or any training that forces a dog to keep running against its will. If you do, your right to use the Service ends immediately.
  8. Not for emergencies. The Service is not designed or meant for emergency or life-saving use. Do not rely on it to warn you of an emergency or to protect life, and do not use it in place of safety equipment or common sense.

3. Weather and heat information

Heat guidance in the app uses weather data from Apple Weather.

YOUR USE OF THIS REAL TIME WEATHER GUIDANCE APPLICATION OR WEBSITE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. WEATHER DATA MAY NOT BE ACCURATE.

Heat levels are guidance only. Always check the actual conditions where your treadmill stands. You may not copy, scrape, reverse engineer or otherwise extract Apple Weather data or the WeatherKit service through the Service, for any purpose. Weather data sources: https://weatherkit.apple.com/legal-attribution.html.

4. Who can use TreadPaw, and accounts

TreadPaw is made for adult dog owners. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your state if that is higher, to create an account.

You can use many features without an account. An account (signing in with a one-time email code, or with Apple or Google where offered) lets you back up and sync your data. Please give accurate information and keep your email account and devices secure; you are responsible for what happens in your account.

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile, then Account & backup, then Delete account) or by email; see Delete your TreadPaw account and data. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people, animals or the Service at risk. When your account or these terms end, your license in section 5 ends too. Sections that by their nature should continue (for example, sections 8 and 12 to 16) continue after that.

5. Your license to use TreadPaw

As long as you follow these terms, we give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to (a) install and use the app on devices you own or control, and (b) use the console firmware on consoles you own, in each case for personal, non-commercial use with your own dogs. Open-source components are licensed under their own licenses (section 6), and nothing in these terms limits the rights those licenses give you.

Except where these terms, an open-source license or the law allows it, you may not: copy, modify or make derivative works of the Service; sell, rent or sublicense it; remove notices from it; use it to build a competing service; get around security features (including firmware signature checks) on consoles you do not own; or interfere with or overload our servers.

App Store. If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app. If it conflicts with these terms about the app, Apple's agreement controls. The console firmware and our online services are covered by these terms.

6. Open-source software, the console firmware and your right to modify it (LGPL)

The console firmware includes open-source libraries. Some parts of the Arduino-ESP32 core it uses are licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 or later (the "LGPL"). The list of firmware components and their licenses is on our Support page under "Open-source software." The open-source licenses for the app are in the app (Profile, then Open-source licenses).

For the parts of the firmware licensed under the LGPL:

  • You may modify those parts for your own use, and you may reverse engineer the firmware as far as needed to debug your changes. Nothing in these terms limits that right, even if another section seems to say otherwise.
  • For every firmware release, we prepare a relink package (our object files, the link command, linker scripts and build settings). With it, you can relink the firmware with a modified version of those library parts and install it on your console over USB. The complete source of those parts is available from the upstream project; the Support page links to the exact version we use, which we have not modified. Email support@mlemgirove.com to get the relink package for your firmware version, at no charge.
  • Written offer. For at least three years after each firmware release, anyone may email support@mlemgirove.com to ask for the source of those LGPL parts and the relink package for that release. We will provide them for no more than our cost of providing them.
  • A copy of the LGPL version 2.1 is at https://www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/lgpl-2.1.txt.

Official firmware updates delivered through the app are signed by us. Consoles running firmware you have modified are not supported, may not accept our updates, and problems caused by your changes are not covered by our support. This does not affect any warranty rights you have by law, or your rights for problems your changes did not cause.

7. Prices

TreadPaw is free right now. If we add paid features later, we will show you the price and terms before you buy anything. The purchase of a treadmill or console is covered by the seller's own terms and warranty.

8. Your content

You own the information you enter, such as your dog's profile, notes and feedback. You give us permission to store and process it only to run the Service for you, including backup and sync, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for what you write in notes.

9. Our property and trademarks

The Service, the TreadPaw name and logo, and our content belong to us or our licensors. Treadmill brand names and logos shown in the app belong to their respective owners. We do not give you any rights except those stated in these terms.

10. Other companies' services

The Service uses services from other companies, such as the app stores, Apple Weather, Sign in with Apple or Google, our hosting provider and our email delivery provider. You agree to follow the terms of those services that apply to you, and the terms of your mobile carrier and device.

11. Updates and changes

We may update the app and the console firmware, including for security, and we may change or stop offering features. We provide security updates for the TreadPaw console firmware until at least December 31, 2028.

We may update these terms. We will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. For significant changes, we will also tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after the changes take effect, you accept the new terms.

12. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," and we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We do not promise that sensor readings, distances, speeds, calories or heat levels are exact. Some states do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from or related to the Service. Our total liability for all claims arising from or related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim, and (b) USD 100.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence where the law does not allow it to be limited. Some states do not allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.

14. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and indemnify us against third-party claims, and the losses and reasonable legal costs that come from them, arising from your misuse of the Service, your breach of these terms, or your violation of the law or of someone else's rights.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms, and any dispute arising from them or from the Service, are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where our company is headquartered, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. You and we consent to venue and personal jurisdiction in the courts of that jurisdiction. Nothing in this section takes away any rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the state where you live that cannot be waived by agreement.

Before filing a claim, please email support@mlemgirove.com so we can try to solve the problem with you.

16. General

If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a right, we are not giving it up. You may not transfer these terms without our written consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger, sale or other transfer of our business. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. The headings are only for convenience.
