How to Choose a Dog Treadmill Size
Start with your dog's published weight range, then compare body measurements, usable running-surface dimensions, and the space available in your home.
Measure your dog before choosing
- Shoulder height: measure from the floor to the highest point of the withers.
- Body length: measure from the tip of the nose to the point of the buttock.
- Movement space: compare these measurements with the usable running surface and allow room for natural movement.
Compare Small, Medium, and Large
Weight is a starting point: Small fits dogs under 40 lb, Medium fits 40–70 lb, and Large fits dogs 70 lb and up. If your dog is near 40 lb or 70 lb, also compare the usable running surface and the treadmill's overall footprint.

Frame rating describes the treadmill frame. It is not a recommended maximum dog weight.
Choose a model
- Start with the published dog-weight guidance: Small under 40 lb, Medium 40–70 lb, Large 70 lb and up.
- Compare shoulder height and body length with the usable running-surface dimensions.
- Confirm the overall treadmill footprint fits the space available in your home.
- If your dog is close to 40 lb or 70 lb, compare running-surface length with body length rather than using weight alone.
